Villanova Signee Ben Malone Runs Prep #1 1000 Meters

All thoughts of breaking Robby Andrews' high school record (2:22.28) at 1000 meters evaporated early for Villanova signee Ben Malone this past weekend at the Armory as the race went out slowly and Malone got boxed in during the first two laps. Once liberated from the pack, however, Malone crushed the field and won in a US prep #1 time of 2:25.82, almost 3 seconds ahead of the runner-up. Malone will contest the prep mile at the Millrose Games later this month. In addition to his top spot in the 1000 meters, Malone is currently #15 nationally over the mile (4:17.96).
