Swarthmore Last Chance Produces Fast Times & PRs -- Mildenhall Flirts with Metric Equivalent


Several members of the two Villanova squads competed in the Swarthmore Last Chance meet on May 14. Highlighting the men's side was a new PR for Mathew Mildenhall, who flirted with the 1500 meter equivalent of a sub-4:00 mile (3:42.2). He ran the day's fastest time of 3:42.76. Aussie Sam McEntee ran 3:43.34 over 1500 meters in setting a new PR with the equivalent of a 4:01.1 mile. At the same distance, Brian Tetreault also ran a PR at 1500 (3:44.41), the equivalent of 4:02.2 over the mile. Kept under wraps virtually all year, super frosh Chris FitzSimons ran unattached in the 800, coming home in 1:49.91. Frank Anuszewski took third in the hammer.

On the women's side, former World Indoor silver medalist and Villanova multi-national champion Carmen Douma-Hussar competed in the 1500 meters along with Bogdana Mimic, Ellen Dougherty, Emily Lipari, and Kelly McElroy. Shannon Browne ran a PR 2:10.63 over 800 meters. Audrey Gariepy-Bogui won the high jump.
